Angling

Youghal boasts an excellent variety of angling ranging from game to coarse to deep sea. The Blackwater river is one of the most famous salmon rivers in Europe and enters the sea at Youghal Bay. Deep sea fishing including Conger to 41 lbs in weight and Blue Shark up to 135 lbs. Carleton will be happy to arrange an angling trip including organisation of rods, gillies and boat hire.

Youghal and it's Blue Flag Beaches

Carleton Wharf has a small sandy beach on its doorstep and very close by there is a wonderful six mile stretch of beautiful blue flag sandy beaches.

Front Strand Beach: Sandy, Sandy, safe beach - most suitable for families, picnics and walks, amenities close by.

Claycastle: Sandy, safe beach - eu blue flag. Suitable for families, picnics and walks. Lifeguards on-site, amenities close by.

Redbarn Strand: Sandy, safe beach – suitable for families, picnics and walks. It is posible to drive the car on to the beach at this point. This area of the beach is also suitable for ponies and traps, andthese are often available for rides.

 

The Regal Cinema, Youghal

Lights, Camera, Action! Youghal's Regal Cinema boasts three screens all showing the latest blockbusters. Matinee movies are also shown in the afternoons. Popcorn, candifloss, chocolate and soft drinks, the cinema has a range of goodies guaranteed to keep you munching until the end of the movie!

Pitch and Putt

Pitch and putt your way across fairways and bunkers for winning glory. Located right on the beach front Youghal's 18 hole Pitch and Putt course is open all year round.

The course layout is a varied array of lakes and hillside to put every level of skill to the test. Groups are welcome and prebooking is not necessary, Clubs hire is available.


Aquatrek

Dinghy sailing, yacht cruises and power boating - it's all at Aquatrek in Youghal.

Dinghies are raced every Wednesday evening and Sunday morning. Scheduled cruises include Baltimore on May Bank Holiday, Isles of Scilly on August Bank Holiday week and Baltimore / Kilmore Quay on the last weekend of September.

Trailways Guided Hikes and Walks

 

Guided treks in the mountains of West Waterford and South Tipperary regions. Low level walks in East Cork and West Waterford area. This includes many forest circuit routes. Catering for groups and individuals. Full day hikes on the mountains. Half day rambles and strolls in beautiful forests, cliffs and track walks throughout the region.

Thundercats

2008 saw the Thunder cats speedboat racing in Youghal. We are awaiting dates for the show for summer 2010.
